After a very rough morning, we arrived at SJU just after 10:30 am, but it took us another 4 hrs to track down our luggage & pick up our rental car (always ALWAYS read the “terms & agreements”… they wanted a letter from our insurance company stating they covered collision on the island – my insurance didn’t but thankfully my Visa card did; otherwise they double the rental fees). I had booked us a 5 star resort for the night (Conrad of San Juan)– my first one ever! It had a casino, several pools, we had the most amazing view of the ocean & the rooms we spacious & nicely decorated… only it was far from classy. There were busloads (literally) of young (barely 21) people streaming in. It was closer to a nightclub than it was to a luxury resort. I was so disappointed – and $210 didn’t even get us breakfast the next morning (actually none of the hotels ended up including breakfast).
